Standards Based Grading

Explanation of the STANDARD based grades your student can earn:

  • 4: Primarily reserved for assessments. Assigned to work that communicates a level of understanding and work that meets grade level with minimal errors. The student - with relative ease - grasps, applies, and extends the key concepts, processes, and skills for the grade level and standard.

  • 3: Could apply to both assignments and assessments. Assigned to work that has met grade level expectations, without major concept and content errors. The student, with limited errors, grasps and applies the key concepts, processes, and skills for the grade level and standard.

  • 2: Assigned to work that is beginning to, and occasionally does, meet the grade level expectations with some errors in concepts and content. The student is beginning to grasp and apply the key concepts, processes, and skills for the grade level and standard but produces work that contains many errors.

  • 1: Assigned to work that is not meeting grade level expectations, with many errors in the concepts and content. The student is working below grade level.
